Just flow – right now – for improved creativity and productivity! However busy you are…
So, this morning, I found myself in London with lots of work to do. As many of us do, when I’m feeling stressed, I might just get up and head straight to work. OK, so as I work freelance from various locations, sometimes that is in my lounge so I don’t have far to go, but often that can be worse because you’re straight away immersed into the daily grind without even so much as the daily commute to observe to keep you mindful! So, this is a pattern that, today, I wanted to break.
What I actually ended up doing is an hour yoga flow which, when I was really tense, was just what I needed! Like most people, I strive to stay disciplined in my work – I’m a bit of a workaholic – but I am MINDFUL that I need to work at my pace, and that I need to change my routine and flow with what my body needs. I journalled about this yesterday – too often, we just stay in our ‘routine’ or daily pattern because it’s ‘easier.’ But, it actually aids productivity and creativity when we just get up and flow with the day: in the moment.
That’s exactly what I did this morning, and what ended up happening was that instead of forcing my regular day, which would have made me resent the tasks I had to do, I actually practiced yoga, allowed myself time for me, and then continued with my work feeling inspired to write this blog, and then continue with the rest of my jobs! I found my flow and allowed it to continue in the rest of my day!
